A cure to boring eLearning
The typical eLearning program is static, linear and passive. Consequently,
learners are bored, and they don't learn and recall the subject.
People learn best by understanding the story that are embedded in the content.
"Facts are understood better in the context of stories." The challenge
for designers, trainers, developers, and project leaders, however, is how to intertwine
and integrate stories in otherwise dry and boring content. It requires craft and
skills set to design and implement story-based eLearning courses that help learners
learn and stay engaged in the process.
This workshop is a hands-on and step-by-step learning process in applying the
story-based eLearning design ideas into real eLearning programs. It is less of
theory and more on practical applications.

In this workshop you will learn:
- What research findings support story-based eLearning design?
- How to test and discover the "highly-passive" and "highly-boring"
aspects of your programs?
- How to break-down and reassemble content into story-based learning objectives,
presentations and exercises?
- How to develop and find stories to match all types of content?
- How to write succinct and short stories to make lesson pages engaging?
- How to embed stories in content to allow learners to discover the ideas?
- How to apply the "vividness" and "emotional" tests?
- How to use stories to help learners apply learning ideas in work-situations?
- How to apply Story-based eLearning with compliance, technical and software
content?
- How to design test questions that use stories?
- When and how to use photos, illustrations, audio, video and Flash animations?
- How to measure the results of story-based eLearning design?
- How to create, find and use images, audio, video, animation and software that
makes the job of story-based eLearnng design easier, faster and cheaper?

100 Demos, Scenario Book, Take-aways, Resources, and Community Networking
Participants are able to access online references, take-aways, checklists, hand-outs,
images, photos, examples of story-base elearning lessons up to 12 months after
the workshop. They become members to a community of participants to network, share
and get support. They have access to a secure server to view
100 short lessons as demos, templates and examples of story-base eLearning Design.
As a take-away, each participant gets a copy of Ray Jimenez's book Scenario-base
eLearning: Using Stories to Engage eLearners.

Target participants
The workshop is for instructional designers, developers, writers, trainers,
subject-matter experts, and project leads who wish to integrate story-based eLearning
design in their projects. It is recommended for those who are in the process of
creating their eLearning programs and those who want to re-invigorate their programs
and making them more engaging and effective.

and have basic skills and experience in participating in virtual learning environments
such as WebEx, Elluminate or Adobe Connect. There is no requirement for participants
to have eLearning authoring skills.

Project-based workshop - Certification
Participants to the workshop are required to develop a simple and basic lesson
applying the
ideas from Story-based eLearning Design. This small project is required before
certification is issued.

Online Workshop schedule, structure and design
The workshop has three sessions for a total of nine hours. Each session consists
of three-hours. Each session has two parts: Part 1 - Attendance to facilitated
group presentations and discussions and Part 2 - Self-driven applications and
projects. Part 1 is usually around one hour and a half and Part 2 is usually around
